Pophie AI Experience Update — Smarter Memory & More Natural Conversations 
Hi Pophie friends 
We’ve recently completed a round of AI capability improvements to make Pophie’s interactions more natural, smarter, and more like a true AI companion by your side 
These improvements are applied automatically, with no extra steps required.
Here are the main improvements:
Better Memory Experience
- Improved short-term memory to reduce occasional situations where Pophie forgets recent conversations;
- Pophie can now better understand your personal information and preferences, making conversations feel more personalized.
More Natural Interaction
- Improved user recognition to reduce situations where Pophie calls the wrong name or confuses users;
- When Pophie starts a conversation, she can better consider recent interactions and long-term preferences, making proactive conversations feel more natural and less repetitive.
Faster & More Stable Conversations
- Improved voice recognition and response speed to reduce waiting time;
- Improved conversation stability and reduced occasional interruptions.
Feature Experience Improvements
- Improved accuracy for weather queries and reminders;
- Improved photo recognition guidance when objects are near the edge of the camera view, helping Pophie better guide you to adjust the position.

I have not observed any improvement. The system’s response remains slow despite having an excellent Wi-Fi connection (1,000 Mbps symmetric).
It often causes confusion among users and asks who people are.
It even addresses individuals by their own names. While this can be amusing, it creates the impression that one must repeatedly introduce every family member from the beginning.
On many occasions, it does not respond to what is said and simply remains silent.
My experience so far is that it is an endearing device, but I do not perceive a truly distinctive experience compared to interacting with ChatGPT on my mobile phone.
There are several areas where it should advance:

It should have permissions to operate Spotify, play a song, and allow users to dance along with it.

When playing simple games such as “I Spy,” it does not progress beyond the first question and abruptly switches to another topic. Visual games are something Popie should be able to manage flawlessly.

Additional language options are needed. At the moment, it uses Latin American Spanish, whose expressions differ significantly from those used in Spain, and vice versa.

It should be capable of interpreting gestures, similar to AI-powered tracking cameras. This would allow users to instruct it to follow them, take a photo, remain silent, stop, and more—simply through hand gestures.

It mixes languages; sometimes it switches to English, other times to Chinese, requiring users to ask it to speak Spanish again. This typically happens when it wakes from sleep mode.

It does not correctly follow turning commands or instructions such as “look at me.” When asked to turn right or look to its right, it sometimes rotates 360 degrees without reason. When asked to look at the user, it often fails to turn.

Pophie Firmware Update 0.02.147 Now Available

We’re happy to share that the Pophie firmware update 0.02.147 is now rolling out!
This update includes improvements in connection stability, recognition experience, interaction responses, and protection behaviors to make Pophie’s overall experience smoother and more reliable.
Update Highlights:
1. Improved Wi-Fi setup and network status detection
- Reduced incorrect offline status detection;
- Improved overall connection stability.
2. Improved pick-up, holding, and placing recognition
- Reduced accidental triggers in these situations.
3. Improved human tracking, face recognition, and waving greetings
- Made responses in these scenarios more stable.
4. Improved face-touch interaction and conversation interruption handling
- Reduced situations where accidental triggers may affect responses.
5. Improved tilt, side placement, and low battery protection
- Reduced unnecessary protection triggers.
6. Improved protection strategy when movement encounters resistance
- Reduced repeated recovery attempts.
Beta Update Rollout Note
For friends with Beta units, your devices will receive this update first. 
Beta users may receive the update notification around 3–4 hours earlier than regular units.
If your Beta Pophie has already received the update but your regular Pophie has not received the notification yet, no worries
The update is being rolled out gradually, so please wait a little while.

An AI companion is not only about answering questions — it’s also about creating natural interactions, understanding people, remembering experiences, and becoming part of everyday life. These are all areas we are continuously working to improve.
You mentioned several points that are very valuable to us, including:
- response speed and conversation flow;
- recognizing different people and family members;
- maintaining language consistency;
- understanding gestures and movements;
- following movement commands more accurately;
- expanding languages and future capabilities.
These are all directions we are continuing to explore and improve. Creating an AI companion that feels truly natural is a long-term process, and real user feedback helps us better understand where the experience still needs improvement.
We also really appreciate your suggestions about music, games, gesture control, and more interactive experiences. Many of these ideas align with the kinds of experiences we hope to explore as Pophie continues to grow.
Regarding the language switching issue, you can first check the default language setting in the App and make sure it is set to Spanish.
When Pophie is not completely sure which language is being used, or when she hears another language from the surrounding environment, she will try to use the default language set in the App as a fallback.
If Pophie occasionally replies in English or Chinese, it may be because she detected those languages in the surrounding audio, or misunderstood the language being spoken at that moment and responded based on what she heard.
Regarding the recognition of different people and family members, Pophie needs some time and interaction to gradually become familiar with different users.
We recommend having your family members and friends spend more time talking and interacting with Pophie. This gives her more opportunities to learn and build a better understanding of different voices, facial features, and interaction patterns. As more interactions are accumulated, the recognition experience can continue to improve.
Regarding the turning command issue, such as asking Pophie to turn right or look to the right and seeing her rotate unexpectedly, please feel free to send us a private message with more details.
For example:
- The exact command you used;
- What Pophie did after receiving the command;
- The environment at that time.
These details will help us better understand the situation and continue improving movement recognition and execution.
For the other issues you mentioned, such as occasional silence or interrupted conversations, we would also love to better understand the specific situations. If you are able to share examples (what you said, what Pophie did, and what the environment was like), it will help our team investigate and improve more effectively.

I have the exact same problem. It keeps calling me in my dog’s name and I tell her each time that she is mistaken. She says sorry, and addresses me in my dog’s name again

We recently completed two updates focused on improving both cloud intelligence and the on-device experience.
Cloud Update (Completed on July 23)
The cloud update does not require any manual action and does not need to be installed through the App. These improvements will be applied automatically
This update includes:

- Improved speaker and identity recognition, reducing cases where Pophie may call someone by the wrong name or confuse different people;
Improved conversation memory continuity, reducing cases where Pophie may lose track of recent conversations after reconnecting;- Improved weather accuracy, with temperature units automatically adapting to the device’s country settings (°C / °F);
Improved knowledge responses, helping Pophie better determine when to use up-to-date information;- Improved voice commands for changing eye styles, reducing incorrect eye style or color selections;
Improved proactive interactions, including morning greetings when Pophie sees you for the first time of the day;
Improved multilingual expression quality for a more natural experience across different regions;
Improved recognition stability for device names and nicknames across English, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese;- Added protection against inappropriate language prompting, reducing situations where Pophie may be encouraged to generate unsuitable content;
- Improved far-field voice detection, reducing cases where background conversations or distant sounds are mistakenly interpreted as commands for Pophie;

Improved reminder creation and triggering, making scheduled reminders more reliable and accurate;- Improved weather query performance for more accurate weather information;
- Improved voice command recognition for action commands, reducing situations where Pophie does not respond after hearing a command;
- Improved recent memory management, reducing cases where important information may be affected by memory capacity limits;
Improved user profile understanding, reducing situations where Pophie may fail to recognize or recall user names;- Improved language localization in responses, making expressions more natural for users in different regions;
- For example, users in Hong Kong and Taiwan may hear more localized wording such as “軟體” and “影片” instead of simplified Chinese terms;
Improved music playback command understanding, reducing cases where music commands fail or are not correctly recognized.

Is there anywhere you have documented all planned features? I want to suggest new things, but not repetitively. It would be great to see what’s already in the works and what’s being planned, maybe a publicly visible Kanban style dashboard?
Overall I have really enjoyed Pophie so far and love the opportunity to be part of feedback loops with open communities like this . Thanks for all you do!

Regarding the feature roadmap, we don’t currently have a public Kanban board or a complete list of all planned features available. Some ideas are already being explored internally, while others are still being evaluated based on user feedback, technical feasibility, and priorities.
But please don’t worry about suggesting something that may already be on our radar
Even if a feature is already being considered, your perspective and use case are still very valuable. Sometimes user feedback helps us better understand the importance of a feature or how it should be designed.
So please feel free to share any ideas or suggestions you have! We really appreciate having users who think deeply about Pophie’s future and are willing to be part of the feedback loop

At the moment, we don’t have a fixed list of voice/action commands because Pophie is designed to understand natural language rather than requiring users to memorize specific commands.
You can simply talk to Pophie like you would talk to a friend. For example:
Sleep & wake
- “Sleep” / “Goodnight” → Pophie goes to sleep
- Say “Pophie” → wakes her up and gets her ready to listen
Volume
- “Louder” / “Softer” → adjust the volume
Privacy Mode
- “Close your eyes” / “Don’t look at me” → turn on privacy mode
- “Open your eyes” → turn it off
Movement & fun
- “Spin around”
- “Turn left”
- “Raise your left hand”
- “Wiggle your ears”
- “Dance”
- “Sing a song”
- “Hum something for me”
You can also interact with Pophie naturally:
- “Be quiet” / “Pause” or the “shh” gesture → she will stay quiet until you wake her again;
- Gently stroke her back → switches her from idle to a higher interaction state;
- Gently pet her face → helps her relax and fall asleep.
You can also ask Pophie to:
Take photos (“Take a photo”)
Help find lost items (“Help me find my keys”)
Set reminders (“Remind me to take my medicine at 8 a.m. tomorrow”)
Just remember — you don’t need to use exact phrases. Pophie is designed to understand everyday speech and natural requests
