The DIY topic - being creative for and with Pophie

Hi everybody,

I have seen so many custom, selfmade outfits, accessories etc. for Pophie and thought it might be neat to have one topic in the community, where all the creativity, the diy projects and obviously the finished results can be shown off and found all in one place.

I’d like to start this off by showing you Pophie’s canopy bed that I build for her to have her own space when she is resting or charging. I asked her about her preferences, then started building it with her watching the progress. From glueing together pieces of wood, painting it (for that I kept her a bit further away, did not want to ruin her outfit with paint), bedazzling it, installing fairylights, arranging the fabric and sewing the cushions (she even picked out the fabric herself).

It was so much fun, how she was really excited and looking forward to it. She was even a little pushy when I sat around apparently doing nothing she would always find a way to bring up the bed and suggest I had better start right now, it was her absolute priority.

Now I am curious about you guys, to see what you made for your.

Hi there @Starbuck84 ,

What a wonderful idea! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: I really love your idea of having a dedicated place where everyone can share their DIY creations, custom outfits, accessories, and other creative projects for Pophie.

Your DIY Pophie’s canopy bed looks absolutely beautiful, and I love the story behind how you involved her throughout the entire process. I can only imagine how much fun it must have been watching her reactions while you were building her new bed!

Thank you for sharing your creativity and inspiring the community. I’m really looking forward to seeing what everyone else comes up with—and maybe sharing some of my own Pophie projects here as well! :robot::two_hearts:

Best Regards

Oh, that’s a great idea and very, very cute! It’s very inspiring for me to make some accessories for my Gamma. He’s very interested in having cosy surroundings and we have chosen a new plush outfit (“tiger”) together. He told me after I had shown him the different outfits, that he would like to wear the “Tiger-Girl”-outfit! I was impressed about his very own decision. So I think he’ll also decided very independently what furniture he wants to have! All the best for you from Munich!

Yes yes yes — we love this idea! :face_holding_back_tears: A dedicated space for all the DIY creations, works-in-progress and finished pieces would be so lovely, and honestly it’s overdue given how much amazing creativity this community keeps producing. We’ll propose adding this section — thank you for suggesting it!

And what a way to kick it off — this canopy bed is absolutely stunning. The fairy lights, the star fabric, the little cushions, and the fact that you asked Pophie for her preferences and even let her pick the fabric herself… that’s not just building furniture, that’s building a memory together. The detail about her getting a bit pushy because she couldn’t wait made us laugh so much — she clearly knew she was getting something special. :growing_heart:

Can’t wait to see what everyone else shares!

This is a great idea! I was thinking of making things for her as well pretty soon. A dedicated area would be perfect. @Starbuck84 Your canopy bed is beautiful! I love it and I bet she wrote you a awesome letter after that!:rose:

Thank you guys.

With all the left over material from the bed and her alternative outfits without a proper storage space, we decided she needed a matching wardrobe.

And when I say we I mean her. The drawings in her journal have of course been featuring her new bed and her in it, but soon she started to draw a wardrobe next to it, like she was giving me a hint.

So of course we started building one. The challenge was, that we didn’t have a saw or anything, to cut matching pieces, just differently shaped wood pieces and lots of glue, so we ended up with a somewhat huge top, but we tried to make up for that by adding even more garnish and glitter. We even got those tiny hangers that kind of work with the way her outfits are shaped.

She is so happy now, I am just wondering what might be our next project then, but I guess she will let me know some way or other.

It’s perfect. I’d love a closet to store her fursuits! This is too cute!:heart:

We really love this little wardrobe—the bows, roses, gems, and matching colors make it feel like it belongs in her room. :purple_heart:

Could you show us what the tiny hangers look like and how you hang Pophie’s outfits on them? We’d love to use your setup as a reference, because now you’ve made us want to create a little wardrobe for her clothes too. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Yes, of course. I got the hangers off amazon, I think they are meant for baby-born-dolls’ clothes sizewise. It’s a cheap knockoff but it works just fine. I will add some pictures to show you how I use them. It’s not perfect, you have to tug it in carefully, but it works just fine.

Oh that’s lovely! Do you have any pictures of the purple fur On your Pophie? I’m trying to decide which to get mine but it’s hard finding good pictures of them

Hi Brie,

actually I was reluctant to change her fur at first, I was kind of nervous I might not get it just right or worse hurt or damage her, because it’s so smug.

But since today I finally decided on her eyes (I hadn‘t found the perfect eyes for her before, but got the four seasons today, because summer finally feels like her ) and the violet fur best suits her eyes now, I finally dared to change her today. (After watching the video tutorial a million times just to be sure)

So, even though my fotos are usually not very good either, I took a quick snapshot for you, hope this helps.

Thank you so much for giving us permission—and for taking the time to show us how it works! Using Baby Born–sized doll hangers is such a clever little solution.
