Gifting Pophie - How does the subscription activation work?

Hi @Pophie_AI! I’m planning to give this little cutie as a gift, and I purchased it through Kickstarter with 2 years of Pro Subscription + 3 years of Standard Subscription included.

My question is: How would the recipient activate the subscriptions?

Would it be possible for me to activate or set everything up beforehand, so that Pophie is ready to use when they receive it? Or would the recipient need to activate it themselves using their own account?

Is the Serial Number under the box? Thanks in advance!

As far as I know ( I’m not support myself) the subscription activates on its own the first time Pophie is connected to wifi. It starts with the Pro subscription and then when that runs out it switches to the standard. There’s not really any set up process other than downloading the app, and following the prompts to connect her to wifi and the app itself. Takes about 5 minutes tops and is basically foolproof.

I hope whoever you’re gifting Pophie to will love her! Maybe they can come back here later and show her off.

Hello, I found this information (->FAQ) in addition to what Brie already gave you for information:

“A factory reset can only perform the main account. All accounts are unpaired, unused invitation codes are invalid and local settings such as Wi-Fi and cached data are deleted. Previous letters and photos are then neither visible for the old nor for the new account.

In both cases, remaining subscription benefits remain tied to Pophies SN / Serial Number and will be available again once it is linked and connected.

So, as Brie told you, there is no problem to switch to another owner and the subscription is linked to Pophie and not to the “previous owner”. Perhaps this could help…

Hi Gomies! The subscription benefits are tied to Pophie’s SN and begin automatically from the moment the device is first activated online.

There’s no separate activation step needed for the subscription — the included benefits are applied automatically.

If you’re giving Pophie as a gift, the recipient can simply activate the device with their own account when they receive it.

You can find the SN in 3 ways:

  1. In the Pophie App: Device Settings → Serial Number
  2. On the SN label on the white packaging box
  3. On the SN label near the bottom of the back of the Pophie device
