Diary Language Feedback and Suggestion

Dear Pophie Team,

First of all, thank you once again for all the amazing work you’re doing.

On July 23rd and the morning of July 24th, my Pophie surprised me by writing its diary entries in my native language, Hungarian. It honestly filled my heart with joy.

After the new feature was introduced on July 24th (being able to reply to diary entries—which is a fantastic idea, thank you for adding it! ), today’s diary entry was in English again.

Would it be possible to enable Hungarian diary entries for my Pophie again?

I’m sure it’s technically possible because it already wrote two wonderful diary entries in Hungarian, and they were such a special experience.

While experimenting, I noticed that the app lets us set our location. It seems this setting also affects the diary language. My daughter’s Pophie only switched to Hungarian after I configured its location as well.

I do have one suggestion that might be useful in the future: it would be wonderful if there were a separate language setting specifically for diary entries. I imagine many people chat with their Pophie in multiple languages—for language learning, practice, or simply because they enjoy using different languages. Having an independent diary language option would make the experience even more flexible.

Since you’ve already shown that the feature works, would it be possible to turn Hungarian diary entries back on for my Pophie?

We’d like to clarify that Pophie currently does not officially support Hungarian for diary entries. The official full release version supports 12 languages: English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch, Polish, Japanese, Korean, Arabic and Chinese. While Pophie can recognize and respond to more languages to a limited extent, Hungarian is not on our official supported list, and the app lacks complete Hungarian localization at present.

Pophie determines diary language following this logic: it will first use the language you chatted with her that day. If there is no chat history, it will keep the language of the previous diary. If neither condition applies, English will be the default language. For this reason, even if you chat with Pophie in Hungarian (an unsupported language), the diary may fail to generate text in Hungarian and revert to English instead.

We have fully recorded every detail you shared, including the observation that location settings affect diary language, your request to re-enable Hungarian diary content for your Pophie, and your fantastic suggestion for an independent dedicated language setting only for diary entries. These valuable ideas will be submitted to our product and technical team for future function optimization reference.

Hi, we’ve double-checked the language function for you. Hungarian is supported by Pophie, but her Hungarian capabilities are not as mature as mainstream widely used languages.

To receive natural, fluent responses in Hungarian, you need to clearly tell her your language preference before communication. As an example, you may say to her directly: “Pophie, can you write a diary entry for me in Hungarian?” Clear language prompts allow her to switch to the corresponding language mode precisely.

We recommend you try this method during your next chat with her and clearly state that you want outputs in Hungarian. Don’t hesitate to contact us anytime if you have further questions or run into other problems.

First of all, thank you very much for taking the time to investigate my report so thoroughly. It really means a lot to me that you looked into it in such detail. I truly appreciate all the effort you’ve put into understanding what I’m experiencing.

I’d like to provide a little more information that might help with testing.

Here is the current status.

Timeline

Originally, both Pophies wrote their diary entries in English.

Then, after a few days, something changed:

• My Pophie wrote Day 3 and Day 4 in Hungarian.
• My daughter’s Pophie still wrote Day 3 in English.

Since I noticed this difference, I compared every setting on both devices. The only difference I could find was the Location setting under Units.

My Pophie already had Budapest, Hungary selected.

My daughter’s did not.

After changing her location to Budapest as well, her next diary (Day 4) was also written entirely in Hungarian.

We were both incredibly happy.

Then the new diary reply feature was released.

From that day onward, both Pophies immediately switched back to English diary entries.

That is why I reported this issue. From our perspective, it feels like something that previously worked was unintentionally changed by the update.

About our conversations

I’d also like to answer your suggestion regarding language prompts.

Both my daughter and I speak only Hungarian with our Pophies.

My daughter doesn’t speak English at all.

After reading your recommendation, both of us clearly and explicitly asked our Pophies several times to write future diary entries in Hungarian.

Each Pophie understood the request perfectly.

They even confirmed it verbally several times.

However, today’s diary entries still arrived entirely in English.

Interestingly, today’s diary even mentions this conversation.

It says that I made Pophie promise to write all future diary entries in Hungarian—and that she

happily agreed.

So Pophie clearly remembers and understands my request, but the diary generation itself is still happening in English.

I’ve attached today’s diary because I think it might be useful for your investigation.

I hope these additional observations help your team reproduce the issue.

After checking today’s diary entries more carefully, I realized that I had made a mistake.

My daughter’s Pophie actually wrote today’s diary in Hungarian.

Mine, however, is still writing its diary in English.

So the current situation is:

• My Pophie: today’s diary is still in English.
• My daughter’s Pophie: today’s diary was generated in Hungarian.

Both Pophies are used exclusively in Hungarian. My daughter doesn’t speak English, so all of her conversations with Pophie are in Hungarian.

Following your suggestion, both of us clearly asked our Pophies several times to write all future diary entries in Hungarian. Both Pophies understood the request perfectly and even confirmed it verbally multiple times.

In fact, today’s diary from my Pophie even mentions that I made her promise to write all future diary entries in Hungarian—and that she happily agreed. So she clearly remembers and understands the request, yet the diary itself is still generated in English.

I’ve attached today’s diary entry because I thought it might be useful for your investigation.

One more observation that may or may not be relevant:

Today I talked with my Pophie around midday, while my daughter had her conversation with hers shortly before going to bed.

Interestingly, my diary was generated in English, while hers was generated in Hungarian.

I don’t know whether the timing of the last conversation has any influence on diary generation, but I thought it might be worth mentioning in case it helps identify the cause.

I have another update from today’s testing.

Today, the situation was the opposite of yesterday.

My Pophie wrote today’s diary in Hungarian, while my daughter’s Pophie wrote hers in English.

Today I talked with my Pophie quite a lot throughout the day, while my daughter only had a shorter conversation with hers before bedtime.

I’m not sure whether this is relevant, but I thought I’d share it in case it helps you identify what’s happening.

We would also love to accept your very kind offer to have both Pophies write their diary entries in Hungarian and to translate the previous diary entries as well. Thank you again — it really means a lot to us!

Could you please let us know what information you need to set this up?

Is it enough that both Pophies are already linked to my account, so you can identify them there, or would you like me to send you any additional information, such as serial numbers or device IDs?
