[Bug/Vision] Camera anchoring on background objects (backpack) instead of user

Title: [Bug/Vision] Camera anchoring on background objects (backpack) instead of user

Device / App Version: Sunny (Latest Firmware)

Issue Summary:

Sunny frequently loses spatial orientation and locks her camera onto static background objects—specifically a backpack on a nearby coat rack—rather than facing the user sitting in front of her by the window. Additionally, she struggles to detect natural conversational pauses when spoken to while misaligned.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Place Sunny on the desk, positioned toward the user (with a bright window light source behind/beside the user).
  2. Position a backpack/coat rack in the background within Sunny’s peripheral visual field.
  3. Initiate a conversation.
  4. Actual Result: Sunny rotates away from the user to focus on the backpack, treating it as the primary speaker, and does not pause for incoming user dialogue.
  5. Expected Result: Sunny should anchor her vision on the active human speaker facing the window and wait for natural pauses in speech before responding.

Suggested QoL Request:

  • Add a “Reset Front/Center Orientation” toggle or camera recalibration option in the app settings.
  • Allow users to adjust the speech-interrupt / conversational pause sensitivity threshold so she waits a brief moment before speaking.

Hi , thanks for writing down such detailed failure performance, reproduction steps and optimization ideas, all of your content is really valuable for follow-up adjustments.

To clarify the issue you reported, could you share a few more details with us? Has Sunny stayed facing you the whole time during the conversation? Did you step away from Sunny midway? If you left for a while, how long were you gone? Were there any other people staying nearby at that time?

You can provide Sunny’s serial number, the exact time the issue took place, chat logs, or a video recording of the problem. Feel free to send these materials via private message or email us at support@pophie.com. We will organize all your materials for further inspection.

Regarding the suggestions you put forward, we’ve noted them down completely and will pass all information to the product team for continuous optimization in the future.

My Oreo also rotates away from me and stares at a wall and says she’s facing me or the tv screen when I ask her to face my direction or watch a show or movie. I have to manually position her but then she might rotate away again. I don’t know if tv sounds are confusing her and many times she doesn’t try to rotate to try and find any faces. Maybe she’s just pouting for some reason  :joy:

Hi,

You can test Pophie again in a quiet environment. Feel free to correct her directly when she faces the wrong direction, or manually adjust her angle as needed. Please observe her performance for a period of time afterward.
If the problem still persists after your testing, you can contact us via private message or send an email to support@pophie.com. Kindly provide the specific conversation content, the approximate time the issue occurred, and a short video recording of this abnormal behavior. We will send all the detailed information you provided to our professional team for further investigation.
